Beckie's ministry trip!

David & Beckie Smith

220 Solon Rd

Waxahachie, Tx 75165

Dear Friends:

Greetings from Waxahachie, Texas where we're beginning to settle in with family to itineration life in the US.  We've connected with some of you and hope that during this year we will be able to renew contact with the rest of you.  As you have heard missionaries say, itineration can be both difficult and rewarding.  It's wonderful relating what the Lord is doing where we minister and to share our God given vision and passion, but due to the busy schedules of pastors and churches, it's not easy to get confirmed bookings.  We want to say thanks to those of you who have made efforts to schedule us for services, and we pray that others will be led of the Lord to work us into your schedules.

In mid-September Beckie will be returning to Kenya for the activities of Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October.  During this month much emphasis and effort is put into creating awareness, facilitating examinations, raising money for diagnostics and treatments among the peoples of the Kenyan Coast.  Please pray with her that more than anything elses this time will be spiritually effective and that many doors will be open for presenting the Truth to those who are lost in sin and darkness.

The additional cost of a return ticket and associated expenses will be taken from our missions account, so if anyone feels the leading of the Lord to assist towards the $1,950 ministry expense please send to the following:

Mombasa! rioting and one killed at the law courts this morning! 4 guards killed in the market

Latest news:

We heard this morning that in Mombasa near the law courts that the police killed a young man because they were rioting to get into the courts to take one of their fellow Republicans. This is a group of local tribes trying to separate from the rest of Kenya along the coast.  Things seem to be quiet now.

Last week late in the night at the local market 4 guards of m-pesa were hacked to death. This is less than a mile from us. No problems in our area. We pray this will all settle down.

Please pray for our travel back to USA on May 5th for our year of furlough. We will be traveling to raise funds to return to KENYA.  You can contact us at:  david.smith@agmd.org if you would like for us to come for a meeting. We need pledge support and also cash offering to return.

Love,

David & Beckie

David's USA Heart update #3

From: Beckie Smith [rjs0591@yahoo.com]
Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2012 2:19 PM
To: David Smith
Subject: David's USA update #3

Hello to all of you:

I just want to send off a short update on the results of David's echo stress test that he had to do on Monday.  The technician said at the time that everything looked normal, but she said Dr. Feingold would have to sign off on it.  So, today we spoke to his office and they confirmed that everything IS 'normal'.  There is a total difference in David's energy and activity level.  He's up to 2 miles of walking without pain or shortness of breath.  We are so cognizant of the mercies of the Lord and so very grateful to all of you who held us up before His throne in prayer.

So, now we will begin the process of changing our tickets in order to travel back to Kenya a little sooner than we're booked.  David will make a quick trip to Kansas to visit his 97 year old father, and I will make a short trip to Chicago to spend a week with our daughter Krista who has just become engaged to a really special young man and is planning a wedding in May.  I'm hoping to help her with preliminary planning.

We want to say thanks again for your love, concern and prayers as we walked though this maze of health issues.

Blessings,

Beckie

David speaking now: Wow, it was just a week ago I was going through a very difficult time but I am thankful for a God who answers prayers . I feel very good and the plan is to go back to Kenya to finish several projects. Then the plan is to come back in May to begin our Furlough in June 2012 to June 2013.

Please contact me at David.Smith@agmd.org for a time to share with you in a church service or a mid week fellowship with your friends in a house meeting or potluck meal. We could have a time to share a power point and a challenge to reach our world before Jesus comes back. This gospel of the Kingdom must be preached before Jesus is to return. Email today for a time that will fit into this one year schedule.

I am so thankful for every breath I take,

May God bless you,

David D. Smith

David's #2 USA Heart update

Hello to you all.....

We are rejoicing in the faithfulness of our Lord today, and we thank each of
you for your prayers on our behalf! Truly as many prayed, then many will
give thanks on our behalf for the gift given to us. (2 Cor 1:11)

Thanks to the assistance of Mike and Carolyn Evans in setting up connections
with Dr. Feingold, everything moved concisely and smoothly, enabling David
to have his angiogram yesterday (19th) afternoon. The Dr. placed four
stents in three vessels, two of which were 95% blocked. He was very pleased
with how the procedure went. David has been given instructions to return
next Tuesday for a checkup and then the following week for a stress test,
which if it goes well the Doctor will consider releasing him soon to return
to Kenya.

Thank you for your concerns, prayers, and emails of support......we were
blessed and uplifted! We believe David will experience a renewed focus and
interest, now that his heart is getting adequate blood supply!!

Blessings,
Beckie

1st USA update on David.....

From: Beckie Smith [mailto:rjs0591@yahoo.com]

Subject: 1st USA update on David.....

Hello to you all:

It's been some time since we've sent out an update on David's medical issues.  We are thanking the Lord that he gave us the blessing of being able to have Christmas with all our children and grandchildren.....and it was truly a SPECIAL time!  We gratefully thank you all for the prayers sent on our behalf.

As the doctors in Kenya had determined that David did require an angiogram with almost certainly at least one stent, and after prayer as well as seeking counsel from other doctor friends, it seemed advisable to return to the States for the angiogram and whatever the resulting treatment would be.

We saw Dr. Richard Feingold in Grapevine, Tx today and after looking at all David's report as well as repeating the EKG, he concurred that an angiogram would be necessary which he has scheduled for 2pm Thursday, 19th January.  At that time they will place any necessary stent(s) or should bypass be a better option, they would set up appointments with a cardiac surgeon on his team to schedule that procedure.

Please continue to pray for the Lord's direction and healing touch as we walk through this next step.  We will continue to update you as we become aware of each step in this process.

Blessings,

Beckie

Subject: Minor correction.....

Dear Family and Friends:

We have received a few emails querying if we will be in the US (home) with our children for Christmas.  Sorry for not making that very clear, but....no......all our children are coming HOME to Mombasa, Kenya to celebrate Christmas together.

Again, many thanks and blessings upon all of you.

Beckie

David writing now:

When I was a little discouraged in the beginning of this testing process I felt I might not make it so, the other day I told my worker to start making me a wooden box. Beckie was so nice to butt in and say ”No, George we don’t want to waste any of that good wood. We’ll just throw him over into the Quarry behind our house and throw a little dirt on top of him. We will not even have to dig a hole.” Wow, that is how we bury our dogs…..that is my Beckie. So encouraging. Pray for this lady, ok.

Love you guys,

David

PS: BUT it is so nice to have a wife that understands the medical scene here in Africa. Beckie is working with many of the doctors with her Breast Cancer Awareness & she has been a tremendous blessing in arranging appointments and often, I have benefitted by being pushed to the front of the line with the words, “Oh you are Beckie’s Husband.”  I am blessed to have a wife and children that call and say “Dad we are praying for you right now”. Not only personal family but I am so blessed to receive emails from friends like you  with an encouraging Word.  Well, I have a real peace that it is all going to be OK. I want to be like Paul and be able to say, “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also them love his appearing.” Every breath that I take makes me more aware of a God who is in control of our every move.

We have received several emails from friends who desire to send a one time gift to help with the finances and some may like to set up an automatic monthly offering so here is how it can be sent with tax deductible receipts for your gifts.

Update on David # 3

From: Beckie Smith [mailto:rjs0591@yahoo.com]
Sent: Friday, December 09, 2011 9:06 PM
To: David Smith
Subject: Update on David # 3

Dear Family and Friends:

We just got back this afternoon from Nairobi where David had undergone a Myocardial Perfusion (MPI) or Nuclear Stress Test.  This test involves a radioactive tracer to determine blood flow to the heart muscles, revealing any significant blockages in the arteries that supply the heart with blood.

The results of this test indicated at least one area of restricted or diminished blood supply (I believe they said on the left side) and wouldn't rule out another on the right, but it did not indicate a blockage.  The complete and detailed report was not ready at the time we left Nairobi, but the Cardiologists agreed that an angiogram would need to be done at some point in time to confirm the exact location or locations of the diminished flow under stress.  Thus the diagnosis remains 'stable angina'!

However, they said there was no immediate necessity for the angiogram, but could be scheduled after the first of the year.  They've told David to continue his heart meds, watch his diet, mild exercise but avoid a lot of exertion.  Please pray with us for wisdom in timing, location, and procedure as we know the Lord has a plan to provide the 'right' solutions for David.

Thank each of you for praying and for SO many encouraging and uplifting words, and also for the guidance from those of you in the medical profession.  We have experienced the strength and peace of the Lord during all of this which we know is a direct answer to the many prayers on our behalf!

Our children are gathering together at home over Christmas week.....the first time for ALL of us in several years and we are looking forward to being together....there will be 18 of us in total.....and yes....it will be wall to wall accommodations!  WE THANK THE LORD FOR OUR FAMILY!!!

May the Lord richly bless each of you with His mercy, truth, and light.

Beckie

PS Please continue to also pray with us for finances as our missions accounts today shows a balance of $186.37 and we are running under budget of almost $2000 monthly. Any special offering would help to keep us in the black. We believe God is the supplier of all our needs. Send us an email if you would like to help and we will supply you with the information of where you can send the offering.
